A leading child care centre in one of Brisbane’s northern suburbs

Tiny Town Child Care and Kindergarten is a small long day care centre and kindergarten in Enoggera in Brisbane’s inner northwest. We are located on a quiet, leafy street in a convenient location with ample off-street parking.

Our Centre is open 50 weeks a year, Monday to Friday (excluding public holidays) from 8.15am to 4.15pm with before and after care available from 7.30am to 5.30pm.

We provide Christian-based care for children from 2 years of age up to school age. Ours is a safe environment that is loving, fun, caring and accepting of children for who they are. We invite you and your child to experience Tiny Town for yourself. Please phone us to make an appointment.

Our Facilities

Tiny Town has a large indoor area suitable for play and rest time, age appropriate amenities for young children, and a vibrant shaded outdoor area that will undergo a major transformation 2019 to provide a space that is more flexible and meaningful to children’s interest and development. It will include a yarning circle, watercourse over a creek bed, a sensory garden and veggie patch, along with a compost and recycling centre.

Our new outdoor play area and garden will provide more diverse and natural elements in keeping with Nature Play initiatives that are increasingly recognised as beneficial to the development of young children, physically, mentally and emotionally. It will also provide a means to explore and understand living and non-living environments (such as rocks) in a safe and fun way and to learn to value, problem solve and care for such environments.

Our Program

We seek to provide flexible child-centred programs of excellence that foster the development of the whole child and provide experiences for different learning styles. Tiny Town believes in the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), which describes childhood as a time of belonging, being and becoming. We deliver nationally recognised early learning and kindergarten programs to this end and in support of EYLF’s principals. Discover more about our program.

Our Philosophy

We believe Early Childhood Education forms a critical foundation for developing skills needed for life. Our goal is to create a stimulating, nurturing and challenging learning environment where children can develop to their full potential, with a sense of belonging, positive self-esteem, wellness and a loving heart.

As such our philosophy embraces four main elements:

Our Faith
  • We promote Christian ideals of love, forgiveness, respecting and serving others, equality, inclusiveness and care for the environment. Learn more about our Christian ideals here.
Our Children
  • We respect and accept the individuality of children and their right to an environment that is free from discrimination and bias.
  • We encourage understanding, resilience, independence and a sense of belonging to promote open, respectful and reciprocal relationships with others.
  • We believe children are capable and resourceful learners who actively contribute, initiate and explore their interests.
Our Families
  • We promote mutual respect and open exchange of information between parents, staff and management, working together to provide an environment that strengthens and supports our children’s growth and learning.
  • We encourage our families to engage in meaningful participation in the centre. This will give parents a greater insight into the running of our centre and enable our organisation to benefit from the experiences, skills and passions they bring.
Our Community
  • We recognise and respect the traditional owners of the land being the Turrbal and Jagara tribal nations and their culture.
  • We acknowledge the uniqueness and diversity that each family brings to our Centre.
  • We celebrate the benefits of diversity, connecting and interacting with children, families and members of the community across cultures, to promote cultural competence and understanding, acceptance, support and celebration of each other.

Creating a Child Care Centre in Brisbane’s northern suburbs.

Our History

Our Centre was established in 1974 by The Ladies’ Fellowship Group of Mitchelton Uniting Church to cater for the needs of young children and their parents in the local community. As Uniting Churches in the area merged, Tiny Town continued to provide a valuable service to the families in our wider community. Today our Centre continues as a valuable outreach of Emmanuel Uniting Church, offering quality, affordable childcare for the local community and its ever-changing needs.

Because of our long-standing history (now in operation for 45 years,) we have had the privilege of caring for second and now third generations of the one family in our Centre. Many parents have such strong and positive memories of their time here and see Tiny Town as advancing with the times while still offering the homeliness, care and wisdom of old.

Our Management

We are owned by the Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust Queensland. Our Management Committee is a sub-committee of the Church Council of the Emmanuel Uniting Church, Enoggera. Parents are represented on the Management Committee, and management decisions are communicated to families through the monthly newsletter.
